Quality of life Several independent surveys indicate that Jämtland enjoys a superior quality of life. Not only does the County enjoy landscapes of magnificent natural beauty, there is also a sense of close community and good access to the basic services that are required to keep people happy in their private lives – effective communication, good nursery provisions and care services for senior citizens, inexpensive housing and a rich and varied cultural life. |

Short facts: • Wherever you are in Jämtland, you will find wonderful natural environments for recreation and relaxation. • Storsjöyran festival, the street festival of the whole County of Jämtland, takes place every summer. • Östersund has more restaurants and cafés in relation to its population than most other towns and cities in Sweden. • There is good skiing in the mountains during the long winter season. • Jamtli Historieland is northern Sweden’s most popular visitors' site. • Jämtland enjoys a rich cultural life with a professional county orchestra, a county theatre, a music theatre and a Filmpool. Other attractions include handicrafts, carpentry, all sorts of music and theatre, such as heritage plays, local variety shows and a number of associations. |
