Wind power industry will double this year

Vindkraftcentrum.se is the regional coordinator for wind energy in the county of Jämtland. In their latest study they wanted to find out how many people were employed in the wind power industry in Jämtland last year.

- In 2011 it was up to 200 full time employees (FTE) (187 according to the survey in the wind power industry in the County of Jämtland). We don’t think that every subcontractor has been identified and therefore we think it is at least 200 FTE during 2011. The respondents themselves evaluate that they will employ a total of 500 full time services in three years, says Roger Isaksson at H1 Communication on Frösön who conducted the survey and asked the question to more than 100 companies.

- As early as 2012, a heavy increase will occur as the Dählie-wind farm project (Åskälen-Österåsen) will start being built. Only there about 300 people will do the work. This, together with other job opportunities in wind power it will bring 500 - 600 FTE already in 2012. We therefore believe that the industry will at least double the FTE´s this year compared to 2011, says Mr Isaksson.
