Middle of Scandinavia

One interesting aspect that is often ignored in relation to the corporate climate in Jämtland is the close proximity to the Norwegian market. The Norwegian market is part of the Mid-Nordic area, the so-called "Middle of Scandinavia", with Sundsvall in the east and Trondheim in the west.

For some time, the commercial sectors and the municipalities of Norway and Sweden have been working closely together, and many observers feel that the Mid-Nordic area has only just entered its first stage of economic growth.

Short facts:

• The distance between Östersund and Trondheim is only 270 km.

• Five of Jämtland’s eight local municipalities are situated along the Norwegian border.

• It is easy to go by train Östersund - Trondheim with "Nabo tåget", twice a day.

• Many projects are under way in partnership with Norway’s Technology and Science University NTNU in Trondheim.
