The Contact Centre Industry

There is a definite increase in the amount of Contact Centres currently in operation in Jämtland. Approximately 30 Contact Centres employ about 3000 people. A decidedly positive attitude regarding Contact Centre related tasks prevails and due to our comprehensive experience of tourism in the county it is easy to find personnel with the necessary attributes – such as language skills, an excellent sense of service and good salesmanship.

Examples of Contact Centres in the region are; Aditro (One of the biggest Contac Center provider in Scandinavia. SYKES in Sveg; an international company providing, primarily, computer support; Respons in Östersund dealing with directory enquiries; Svenska Dagbladet (national newspaper), which has its base for customer support services and subscription sales in Östersund. SchlumbergerSema InfoData in Strömsund boasts a complete information and address data bank; H1 Communication AB, a listed company with focus on inbound, outbound and a unique method for retention.

Why should you start an operation (site) in Jamtland?

- Already established Contact Centers in the Region have turned out to be the most profitable ones in Europe.

- Staff costs are reasonable and lower than in the UK, and Norway. The same goes for premises – much more competitive than major cities such as Stockholm.
- Telecom costs are generally low in Sweden.

- Competence. The industry is well established in the Region, with skilled workers available for both management and production.

- Grants for investment and training are available.

- Midscand offers assistance based on actual experience in the Contact Center industry.

- Language skills are excellent – English and all Nordic languages, with French, German and Spanish available as well.

- Mid-Sweden University offers the first Graduate Program for Contact Center Management and works closely with Midscand.

- The time zone fits most of Europe for daytime service and the US for night service.

- The quality of life in the area attracts young and well educated people from all over Northern Europe (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland and more).

- More than 30 Call Centers have already discovered these advantages – such as Fujitsu-Siemens, Itella and Scandinavian Airlines. Samsung even moved their location from Scotland to Härjedalen.
