ISPO and Emigratiebeurs
In the last month we have attended two very different expos; ISPO in Munich, Germany and Emigratiebeurs in Houten, The Netherlands. We attended ISPO for the first time as curious visitors and the second one as experienced exhibitors (even though it was the first time for me). What combine our attendance in these expos are the great conditions for outdoors in Jämtland!
There is no doubt that Jämtland offers good conditions when it comes to work within the outdoor industry. We have world-leading research in sports technology, sports science and tourism with many established outdoor companies in the region such as Trangia, Hilleberg and Lundhags. Our landscape and climate creates a natural environment that is optimal for testing and product development. This environment also attracts families and young professionals to live and work in our region. Not so often for the opportunities for extreme outdoors sports but for the quality of life, every day! The people we met in Houten, The Netherlands emphasises the change of lifestyle. To be able to change the traffic jams to (almost) empty road and clean air. To change a small house in a crowded city to a farm house with space for a horse stable or a private vegetable land is an attractive dream for many – and realistic! We have had many discussions about on how to find work and as always moving to a new country it is important to learn the language. Most families start their own business based on their previous professional experiences while other wants to change to a new sector. In any case we sit down to listen and to give advice about setting up a company in Jämtland and about the immigration process.
Next time we’re going to the Netherlands is for the 17th of March when we’re hosting a minibeurs about Jämtland. Find out more about that in our Dutch pages www.midscand.com/dutch.
